We believe that it is crucial that a Christian “presence” is maintained in the city – we do that by way of a physical space and a ministry and lay team of committed people.
At Brunswick Methodist Church, we’re right in the heart of Newcastle, and our mission is all about serving the diverse community here. We believe everyone deserves support, whether experiencing homelessness or working in an office. Our doors are open to all, inviting anyone looking for friendship, advice, or a spiritual home.
We strive to keep prayer and worship at the centre of our church life, which is why we welcome visitors seven days a week. It’s important to us that everyone feels included and connected, and we are committed to encouraging an environment where everyone can grow spiritually. Since covid our congregation has grown, welcoming new worshippers of all ages!
Our Brunswick Ministry Team is made up of our two Ministers, Rev Paul Cleever-Thorpe and Deacon Bill Topping, and our Lay Worker, Rob Wylie. We are also home to the Newcastle Chinese Methodist Congregation led by Pastor Jacqueline Shuen and Mr David Lau. Our congregation is a vibrant mix of families, students (many of whom are from overseas), and community members, and we aim to be an inclusive, friendly space for all! We are proud to work alongside other Christian organisations, including Junction 42 and Recovery Church, who operate from our building.
